Flavoring Your Kombucha
Now that you have made your first batch of kombucha, it’s time to personalize the flavors. For the most part, fruit juice, fruit puree, and/or fresh fruit are the main flavorings for kombucha. It’s a simple ratio of 1-2 ounces of juice or puree to 14-15 oz of raw kombucha, added during the second fermentation. There’s a multitude of different flavor combinations with those options alone, but if fruit isn’t your preference, there’s still hope! Below, we have a list of other options that can amp up your kombucha. Mix and match and let us know if you come up with any combinations that you love!
(Add during second fermentation)
- Fruit juice, fruit puree, and/or fresh fruit
- 1-2 ounces of juice or puree to 14-15 oz of raw kombucha
- Herbal tea or dried herbs
- Essential oils (just make sure they’re food-safe!) or extracts
- Add per instructions of the oil you buy
- Pumpkin puree
- Ginger
- Turmeric
- Coffee (add cocoa powder and/or vanilla extract for extra depth of flavor!)
